Maintenance (Pre-Winter)
Don’t wait for the first cold, bitter day of winter to realize your system isn’t working. With our preventative maintenance contracts, you’ll be enrolled for bi-yearly (pre-summer, pre-winter) or quarterly inspections. Our pre-winter inspection varies depending on what kind of equipment you own.
Heat Pump
Filter inspection – Make sure all filters are clean, unclogged, and not blocking air flow. We will recommend replacement if necessary.
Check refrigerant charge – Units low on refrigerant will freeze up and could cause water damage, and strain on the compressor. Over charged units will strain and over work components.
Check and clean condenser coil and evaporator coil – Dirty coils slowly decrease efficiency and make the equipment run longer.
Check drain for any blockages – Over time sludge or algae can form in the drain pipe and create a blockage. During times of high usage, the drain pan may overflow and cause water damage to the equipment or your home.
Check all electrical components – Loose connections are dangerous and can cause improper operation that shortens the equipment’s lifespan. Our technician will also measures voltage and current on equipment motors.
Check overall performance of system – Make sure everything is operating safely and properly.
Electric Furnace
Check electrical components – Loose connections are dangerous and can cause improper operation that shortens the equipment’s lifespan.
Filter inspection – Make sure all filters are clean, unclogged, and not blocking air flow. We will recommend replacement if necessary.
Check overall performance of system – Make sure everything is operating safely and properly.
Oil Furnace
Change oil filter cartridge – The oil filter helps prevents small impurities from clogging the oil-burner nozzle, which could result in a misfire that shuts down the system.
Change nozzle – The nozzle can become dirty and clogged and needs to be changed so furnace can run efficiently.
Check combustion and draft – A buildup of soot can cause the chamber walls to corrode.
Clean heat exchanger – Dirty or clogged heat exchangers will result not only in poor performance, but also have a drastic impact on your energy usage, and heating and cooling bill.
Clean and inspect flue pipe from unit to chimney – Cleans and checks for holes in the exhaust flue that could leak carbon monoxide, particularly where the pipe meets the furnace.
Check overall performance of system – Make sure everything is operating safely and properly.
Gas Furnace
Check gas pressure – Make sure gas pressure isn’t too low or high to ensure unit is running adequately.
Check all safeties and limit controls – When limit controls malfunction, the blower continuously running and could cause furnace to stop operating.
Inspect heat exchanger – Dirty or clogged heat exchangers will result not only in poor performance, but also have a drastic impact on your energy usage, and heating and cooling bill.
Blow out drain line – Clogged drains could cause drain pan to overflow.
Check overall performance of system – Make sure everything is operating safely and properly.
Why is maintaining your unit important?
Lack of maintenance can lead to premature equipment failure, poor indoor air quality, and usually increased energy costs. Proper maintenance inspections enables us to prolong the life of your equipment as well as troubleshoot and fix minor issues before they become larger problems.
